pumpkins. plain awesome.

February 7, 2008

just bought pumpkins tickets. special pre-sale is awesome. but it is also sad. i was totally looking forward to camping out all night outside real groovy. would be heaps of fun, taking a couch down. maby pitching a tent. i bet the hookers hate it when tickets for big gigs go on sale. all corners though are fair game i say! they cant hog it all the time.

January 30, 2008

“We are currently rehearsing for the new tour, and are working on 10-12 songs we haven’t played since reforming, spanning all periods of the band. We are hopeful to put together a completely new set for this arena tour that would feel a lot different from our 2007 shows.” — Billy

Rumors  are that Pumpkins are comming in a few weeks! very exciting!

friday! yay.

January 10, 2008

why when i realize that it is friday do i have the sudden urge to get mildly drunk and listen to the smiths\morrissey quite happily at my desk alone in the sun?

this whole morning, from waking up untill 10ish when i was speaking with luke i though it was thursday! when asking if blueprint was on tonight i was informed it was friday!! man i love it so much when that happens. its like time travel man. so so cool.

–wow, ok, just now, while writing this, i decided to start my friday smiths session, so after the current song i was going to arrange it. but ah ha!! the winamp random conspired with me and has just this minute begun to play ‘there is a light that never goes out’ from ‘the world wont listen’. muha! awesome. /random off.

job news update: nothing, 3 weeks till im un-employed.

songza

November 19, 2007

Was reading about songza here, was quite impressed.

from that tho, via some crazy linking i came accross: http://www.musopen.com/ – very cool, public domain classical music store.

two quotes from that site:

There ought to be but one large art warehouse in the world, to which the artist could carry his art-works and from which he could carry away whatever he needed… - Beethoven

Without music, life would be a mistake.

… I bought the physical one, so I spent a whopping $80. [Pauses.] But, then I re-bought it and paid $5,000, because I really felt that I need to support the arts, so people could follow in my footsteps.”

— Trent Reznor on what he paid for In Rainbows.

I could see the reflection in the tears
That made their way down Your face
Onto the ground I kneel upon
They form a river that overtakes me
Compassion envelops me

jon is awesome.

October 11, 2007

while going down the brooklyn hill this morning, me and george walked past Jon Toogood!!! it instantly made the morning more awesome. was just a casual look, didnt even say hi. he looked down as we past each other. quite exciting.

the other note, after getting to work had to email edmond so we could keep in touch when he goes back home. After checking this flickr i found he had all the photos he took from blueprint camp! it ended up being quite an amusing trail since as i found this photo of sam, it requited that i link him to it, for obvious reasons. Although i ended up reading his blog for a while. in which debs commented… and thus was directed to this awesome pic from camp which i totally forgot about.

i guess thats work time.

oh wait first. i must figure out how they get milk from almonds.. or any type of nuts really.

madrid, spain

June 13, 2007

im sitting in a really hot icafe in madrid, spain at the moment, went to a concert last night (some more info can be found here: http://gl455.wordpress.com/ ), and were going to be heading to valencia soon. mel is off with her friend somewhere and will be meeting us back here soon. i think im going to be working with the whole mix model, timelines are never really important anyway. we woke up at about 11 today and checked out of our hostel shortly after. Hostel Madrid. since we have found out that we picked a really expensive place to stay. and also where we shopped was really expensive too. this from a random meeting on the street. which is to say, as we were wondering somewhere mel saw someone she thought she know, and happened to be right. quite amasing really. so weve been taken to lunch and given language and other lessons. what an amazing “conicedince”, or something like that ;) yesterday we didnt do much, just prepared for the show, and then at 1ish we took the metro to the show. which really is quite exciting. weve done metro in paris aswell now. its quite huge, to think of a complete transport system below the city. i guess from where we come from that is an alien concept. impressive none the less. anyways, after the metro, we poped out right at the right place, not 50meters from the area place. which you will find at http://sptrip.myphotoalbum.com quite a daunting building. from there we spent a good 3ish hours waiting around in the sun to get in. met a few cool people which we spend the whole time hanging around with too. on a side note, ive been meaning to get tour t-shirts for the past 2 shows and keep putting it off. i must get around to that next time.

ahh my screen is flashing: “Te queda poco tiempo de uso…” in big green letters, i think that means im out of time.

from the field

July 17, 2006

Earlier this year Billy’s home page, as well as band site, changed to the new site that it is currently:

‘it’s official, The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 2000. no release date has yet been set, but the band plans to begin recording this summer.’

So the ‘band’ will be recording again soon. Being quite possibly this country’s greatest SP fans, we have been much deliberating over this news. Now after numerous vivid and stimulating conversations, have come to the conclusion that this will be a double album. Well, maybe I speculate it will be. I will it to be truth. Oh the reasons are far a few between, and myself, being such a literary jiant, will but list a few.

10 Years!.. 10 years.!!! Billy wrote around a song a week. (ish). for 10 years!!… (ah close at least. well, spfc it ok.). Now, we know Jimmy is also still musically active, as since he has also toured and released an album. though the wild cards in this crazy bag are obvious, and mysterious. Although sadly de-emphasised, as stated previously: ‘Billy needs little more than Jimmy to record…’. This has been known to be true, still my sentiments towards this statement remain mixed.

So what other bands have released two double albums? (comments please! ) Off the top of my head im unsure, and even so, how Pumpkins would it be for Billy to do it again!! That is why it is soo happening. I will it so. I send out the intention. Right now, right this very second. For It would definitely scare our mothers.

The scope? well, i guess that is another post.
