yum homemade sweet chilli!

June 18, 2008

on sunday we went to the vege markets and bought heaps and heaps of chillies. then couple of days ago blended them up into some awesome chilli sauce. its quite yum.

home made chilli sauce take one

i didnt really follow a recipe, although i did consult one first for some ideas.

basically if you wanna make something awesome, just do it to your tastes. This is about what i can remember for next time:

  • couple thumbs of ginger and galangal
  • bulb or so of garlic
  • as many chilies as i had (20ish 2-3 inch ones)

blend all that up and add:

  • half a cup of raw sugar
  • bit of water
  • sprinkle of rock salt

and cook untill boiling, then reduce to simmer for 5 mins or so. then add:

  • 100mls of cider vinegar
  • 50mls dark soy
  • about half a blended kaffir lime (no rind)

cook a touch more i guess and vola! jar while hot.

maby next time i might try some lemon grass and some of the kaffir lime leaves.

Mangosteen

March 18, 2008

its weird. one you get a post written… all be it finally, they just start to flow.

New life goal: Eat a Mangosteen.

I do suppose I have been very busy writing codes and have not had a chance, or at least given myself a chance, to read the internets. but as soon as you do, gosh, there is some amazing things to learn out there. for example, how long have we talked about this, only to find a clear example in seconds upon looking.

secondly, we have just signed the contract for this web app, providing me work for months and months literally. (and by we, i mean i watched grg and caroll sign (but i was there!!)) very cool. so work is officially commenced. so exciting!!
definitely time for a cup of tea.

yum

oh gosh its been a while

February 21, 2008

having moved house and getting the internets back. its good to be established again. although still job less. which is proving to be quite restful, i still really want to just write code all day. so that my plan today. im going to attempt to launch into a project that could be available to me. im sure there was a list of things i was going to talk about, but as of right now, i really cannot remember. perhaps its because we have no milk.

how boring.

ill post a picture of some food aswell. maby this will brighten up the post.

satay tofu with caramelized carrots and lightly cooked courgette. yum!!

January 12, 2008

we had the dave’s meal. it was ok. not as hot as expecting. as you can see in this pic, i added heaps, in fact, far more than we’ve ever had before in.

pre daves

it was a basic tomato and something soup, and we just added 2 red onions and mushrooms. maby the sauce gets old? i suppose we have had it for a couple of years now.

anyways, this is the meal:

daves meal

quite yum. ed made a cucumber, mint yogurt thing for afterwards. although it didn’t really do the job, as all of us the following day paid quite well for our experience. the wine was a 2005 nevis bluff (otago) pinot noir.

last night we had a simple ramen dish. yum yum.

ramen

dinz got the bung stick again. hahah.

prelim to hot food comp.

January 8, 2008

it has been far far to long. i was considering just now buying some hot sauce, but then realized how long its been since we’ve had a meal with our ‘daves’. so i made a plan.

Tomorrow night, that is wednesday. we, being my flat, are having a preliminary night, a warm up up persay, to the hot food competition. This will most likely be a soup and bread meal. This is also an open invitation. We live in Island bay and most likely cant give you a ride over, but you are welcome to come, if you are interested. Probably eating around 8-9ish.

txt or comment here obviously (or just show up i guess).

boxing day

December 26, 2007

ok, so on Christmas day i let my sister use my camera to take some photos etc. turns out i didnt tell her not about how careful you have to be around the delete all button.

boxing day home now. mck drove me home last night. got home about 2am. was totally cool. listened to morrissey all the way. vauxhall and i then live at earls court. was really quite cool. just having 2 hrs to chill, talk list listen to amasing music. also picked hana up on the way past from her parents. overall, a very exciting night.

woke up today dinz was home, so we went food shopping and had a banquet and watched a few movies. of which the pic is below. tis a touch hard to distinguish the foods, but trust me, they were great!!

awesome Christmas presents

having a discussion about sending things overseas. if you send a bag of pineapple lumps to someone, chances are they will milt. especially if you send them to jamica. what if you capatilised on this idea. for example you got an awesome shaped container and filled it with melt’able things. what an awesome gift!! you could even do it locally. although you might need to pre-melt the contence. say, leaving it on the windowsill all day in something weird shaped (or not, as your preference may be). that would certianally take care of the container not being full once its melted problem. how great would a huge pineapple lump be? yum!

rice crash

November 8, 2007

so, who knew how much rice hates us? apparently if you eat a rice only meal, especially on an empty stomach, the rice just kicks you in the ass and you end up crashing hard. something about your blood sugar spiking. anyway, point is, thats kinda true.

everyone else ended up giving in really eairly. under the day mark. which is quite sad. im just going to finish at 50 hours. (ok maby 48). would be nice to set a mild standard. something to follow.

oh i had a tablespoon of oil in my rice this morning. you cant stop that from happening if you buy rice in tow, so i guess we have to add that to the exceptions.

tulsi – rice lunch 1

November 8, 2007

grg and i went to tulsi on cuba for lunch. we ordered 4 rices’s to go. it was 11.20$ quite lol eh. thats so expensive. for rice. plain rice. although, the rice was amasing, the guy is not that pleasant to order from. he was like that last time too. although, we might of just been catching him at a busy time thus making him quite blunt.

i think my main issue with that is that i go expecting them to be really friendly and nice in there, as i went once and it was like that. then bam! no smiles. and it all a bit of a shock. for that really isnt an issue when thinking about it now. at least it is amusing.

the rice we had for breakfast was unpleasant. so when eating this in the park by global cafe, we were nicely surprised by how amasing and fluffy this was. one would get the feeling that this wasnt going to be so bad after all.
